Hey - this one is for folks in the academic and education space… do you have any tips for note taking when your only sources are a textbook and written lectures from your prof? No journal articles or PFFs. I’m finding it a bit challenging.

I’m looking to design a note template for my eink tablet to create better organized written notes.

I am familiar with the typical formats like Cornell, Outline, Mind Maps, etc. I’m curious to know what works for you and why? Tell me about the layout you use. Tell me how you revise and dial into your studying/learning from your notes. How do you use written notes for recall?

I’ll take all the help I can get :)

The best bit of advice i can give any junior developer; get a note book. Preferably a digital one.
Take notes. Takes notes about _everything_. Found a console command? Take note. Someone gave a weird reason as to why X does Y? Take note.
It's an amazing habit, that constantly pays dividends.

Anyone got suggestions for (FOSS?) Linux & Android alternatives to Google Keep?

I use Keep for shopping lists, memos, aide-memoirs etc. I like that it syncs seamlessly. I dislike that it helps Google train AI, ads, etc etc.
Can be browser based. I do plan to get my own NAS going oneday but at the mo I don't have my own always-on storage. (except the phone which is almost never off...!)

🔴 Today on #SystemCrafters Live, we'll take a look at the `org-transclusion` package and investigate the ways that it can be used to dynamically assemble Org Mode files from other text, source, and Org files that you have on your system.

Writing a book? Writing a literate Emacs config? This package might be useful!
