Charles 𝄢 HAll of the articles I see about MOOs do mention gender politics because the most significant event to happen on LambdaMOO was written up in a Village Voice article called 'A Rape in Cyberspace.' What the Rolling Stone article about the same MOO mentions is that one of the victims switched gender on a day to day basis. Sometimes she was the name and pronouns that were attacked but sometimes he was Derrida and sometimes [they] were the other option available on that MOO, which was "neuter".But also writing about all MOOs by writing about that one MOO is a bit like writing about fedi by writing about mastodon.social.The MOO where I had wiz powers had many gender options and maybe a dozen active players. And like one person who may have been a cis man who only showed up occasionally to help the root user debug. MOOs were a special kind of social community, but the specialness was only in the platform. The people and the group formations were a mirror of 90s culture. There were queer spaces in the 90s, so there were queer MOOs.All MOO articles not about the flagship one seem to be about education platforms. Ethan BlantonI plan to teach a course next semester on interactive programming (ideally in residential environments). I am looking at using Medley Interlisp, some Smalltalk (maybe Squeak?), and I'd like to use a MUD/MOO. It looks like as far as retro-MUDs, LambdaMOO is the ticket. Is anyone aware of a modern MUD engine that is _fully interactive_ like LambdaMOO is?
