:arch: XeroLinux :kdelight:<p>Hey y'all !</p><p>New week, so I decided to get productive and re-do my "DarkXero-Bytes" blog, switching from <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MKDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MKDocs</span></a> to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Hugo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hugo</span></a>. </p><p>While doing that I decided to post about my <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/NixOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NixOS</span></a> journey for the past week. Dr.Kidpixo 🔢☄🔨💻 ⌨️ 🐍🐧<p>I used the nice <a href="https://mastodon.uno/tags/pdoc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pdoc</span></a> <a href="https://pdoc.dev/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">pdoc.dev/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> package to **really** easily generate my <a href="https://mastodon.uno/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a> package documentation.<br>I am hitting the walls of this simplicity and looking for alternatives.<br>I tried <a href="https://mastodon.uno/tags/sphinx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sphinx</span></a> a while ago and didn't really liked it.<br><a href="https://mastodon.uno/tags/mkdocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mkdocs</span></a> seems nice.<br>any ideas about one of those or advantages/experiences?</p>
Miguel Afonso Caetano<p>"Most guides to docs like code, even the ones for non-devs, assume you have some developer knowledge: maybe you're already using version control, or you've encountered build pipelines before, or you're working alongside developers.</p><p>This guide is for the people who read that paragraph and wished it came with a glossary. This is docs like code for people who don't know what git is and have never installed VS Code.</p><p>This post explains terminology and concepts, to help you get a mental model of what's going on. If you prefer to dive in and pick up concepts as you go, skip straight to the tips in How to learn, and come back to the conceptual info as needed."</p><p><a href="https://deborahwrites.com/blog/docs-like-code-basic-intro/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">deborahwrites.com/blog/docs-li</span><span class="invisible">ke-code-basic-intro/</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/TechnicalWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechnicalWriting</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/SoftwareDocumentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SoftwareDocumentation</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/SoftwareDevelopment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SoftwareDevelopment</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/Programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Programming</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/DocsAsCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DocsAsCode</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/Git" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Git</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/Markdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Markdown</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/TechnicalCommunication" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechnicalCommunication</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/MkDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MkDocs</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/VSCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VSCode</span></a></p>

Matt Shaw<p>I've written a guide to building a highly customisable, lightweight, secure, and performant static site using <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/MkDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MkDocs</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/NGINX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NGINX</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/Docker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Docker</span></a>: <a href="https://matthew-shaw.github.io/blog/2024/11/04/building-a-static-site-with-mkdocs-nginx-and-docker/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">matthew-shaw.github.io/blog/20</span><span class="invisible">24/11/04/building-a-static-site-with-mkdocs-nginx-and-docker/</span></a></p>
🍒🌳 Hartmut Goebel<p>I'm seeking experiences in multi-language <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/documentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>documentation</span></a>, e.g in <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Sphinx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sphinx</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/SphinxDoc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SphinxDoc</span></a>, <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/MkDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MkDocs</span></a>, …</p><p>What system/tool can you recommend? How do you handle contributions in case a person not speaking English (which is the 'main' language) wants to add some section?</p><p>The aim is to create docs for <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/tryton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tryton</span></a>. Thus as a bonus we need/want multi-country docs, too. E.g. for describing country-specific taxing — where we don't need information for France in the English master neither in the German translation, but the German translation needs different parts for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. (And things get worse counting in all the countries speaking English or French.) If you have experiences with this, please share.</p><p><a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/followerpower" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>followerpower</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/PleaseBoost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PleaseBoost</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/ReadTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReadTheDocs</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/RTD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RTD</span></a></p>
Michelle Waveform, PhD<p>I literally just want a nice little user-sign-in layer around some docs that can’t be public. Apparently it is a TEEEEEENSY bit harder than I thought it would be. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/oauth2proxy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oauth2proxy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mkdocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mkdocs</span></a></p>
Juan Luis<p>Been following the <a href="https://social.juanlu.space/tags/MkDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MkDocs</span></a> drama for some time. L-)<p>I want to make a website with markdown. </p><p>Anyone here has tips what tools to look at if I want to convert a local folder with .md files to a live website using something like Hugo or MKDocs? Specifically I am looking for a quick (or automatic) way to update the website after a local modification is made. </p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/markdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>markdown</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/mkdocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mkdocs</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/website" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>website</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/tips" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tips</span></a></p>
