Todd<p>Omigod, was <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/MinecraftMovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MinecraftMovie</span></a> bad. So very truly awful. What scripts got tossed away in the past decade and more of trying to get this movie made?</p><p>I can usually find something good in most movies where I like the material enough to go to the theater. I loved Solo: A Star Wars Story. I liked Matrix 2 and 3. I liked Hudson Hawk.</p><p>But this? Not even being a fan of <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Minecraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Minecraft</span></a> and of Jack Black saved a single second of this movie for me.</p>
Weebdeluxe<p>I saw the A Minecraft Movie this week.</p><p>It's better than it needed to be in order to make all the money in the world. But would I say it's a good movie? No, but it's decent.</p><p>It does that weird thing that I have seen several times now where it overexplains the premise and world in the first ten minutes and robs itself of a surprise reveal, a heel turn or a simple twist. And those ten minutes feel artificially inserted too. I can almost feel a version of the script where all the elements present in that beginning part are organicall woven into the plot.</p><p>If I had to speculate, the reason for this is to 1. get non minecraft initiated up to snuff and 2. show Jack Black early. Donovan H<p>Slightly sad that the Minecraft trailer seems to be all about hyper-realistic interpretations of the in-game characters.
