I made altazimuth setting circles for my DOB, azimuth on the base and an elevation circular segment on the elevation axis.

When I set up my DOB I scoot the base until Polaris in the center of the finder reads 0 deg azimuth. I level the base, not a real critical factor.

Then I use the following url app to let me see the az and el of the #Messier, #Herschel500, or #Caldwell objects. Then I just look up an object in the app and move the telescope to the indicated coordinates. it usually is close enough to get the object in my finder.

And 10 seconds of M78. M78 is hard. Seen it visually but it takes a good dark night for that. Will capture a few more photons whilst I get a brew.
