@ericsfraga @oantolin Yes, the direct and initial benefits of #Orgdown are mostly for non-Emacs people: https://karl-voit.at/2021/11/27/orgdown/
However, just imagine for a minute, that all #Markdown usage is replaced with Orgdown usage. Let your thoughts wander for a moment.
This would have tremendous impact on the #Emacs people as well when it comes to working with external tools and people.
@oantolin If that would actually be the reason, then the #orgmode community would have changed its name but embraced the idea. Didn't happen.
I personally do find the name helpful because the main target group is not Org users but normal users, who do know what "Markdown" is and they get some idea transfer to "Orgdown" because of "down".
Nobody I've came across ever said that "Markdown" is negative because of "down". 
To me, "down" symbolizes a "simpler version syntax" according to Lightweight Markup Language (LML) in contrast to complex markup languages like HTML, tex, ...
That said: as long as the org community does not even start to embrace the idea, its name choice is more than irrelevant.
I started #orgdown not as a personal project in the sense that it stays this way. I was hoping for the community to take it away from me and follow the basic idea such that OD is becoming a tool-independent and much better alternative to #Markdown as explained on https://karl-voit.at/2025/08/17/Markdown-disaster/
Does #Firefox render #Markdown yet? (There are extensions, sure … but why not natively?)
Yeah to #LibreOffice supporting Markdown.
#LibreOffice adds #Markdown support while #Mastodon still thinks about how to give us any kind of support beyond posting plain text, years after many users are begging for it ;)

It would be amazing if all browsers rendered Markdown.
My websites and blogposts would just be Markdown files.
Just ssh/rsync and text files. No more static site generator.

(Yes, I know that Markdown is designed to look okay as-is. To geeks, it just about does. Yes, I could handwrite all the HTML. Yes, I am aware that there are multiple flavours of Markdown.)
At #kompot 
#selfhosting community we set up (a while ago) a few #picoCMS (or similar) websites for local sister communities. By connecting the content folder into #nextcloud we tried improving editing experiance. A few nextcloud releases after there are no more #markdown editors in Nextcloud that would fit our purpose. Mostly we are looking for plain text editor that would not add any styling on its own. We did some research and @g1smo went down the 
but did not find anything suitable.

I thought I’d share a little update on my continuous use of #logseq as a personal knowledge management tool.
I recently discovered the individual page properties feature which helps organize my notes a little better.
I still like the simplicity of the tool and the fact that all notes are stored in #markdown.
Visual graph, after a year long use, is getting better. Still pretty to look at. Maybe useful too?
Maybe XML isn’t the future of publishing after all — maybe it’s Markdown.
Just discovered Typst, an open-source application that compiles lightweight markup into PDF or HTML.

Les IA "grands publics" actuelles fonctionnent avec un des modèles de langages (LLM) pour donner leur réponse. On le sait la performance de ces LLM est liée à l'entraînement sur des données antérieures.
