Just posted a diary entry for the first time in about a year with a quick progress update on my personal project.

Let’s see… *rummages through weekend feed haul*... Oh, this one’s a gem: a custom feed bringing together the global #OpenStreetMap community. Curated by @srfr with 32 solid sources, it’s a key window on the world of crowd-sourced cartography.

Finally! @leaflet, the venerable lightweight JS tilemap display library, is gearing up for a 2.0.0 release!
Just the casual reminder to support your instance if you don't already! Mapstodon.Space runs thanks to the support of more than 50 supporters at https://liberapay.com/mapstodon. Every donation matters, even the smallest, even if it's a one time donation. Let's keep the Fediverse strong and resilient, with many independent instances that sustain themselves!
https://github.com/daniel-j-h/zindex this little cloud-native spatial index made it into #WeeklyOSM
With DuckDB-WASM spatial queries against a single static file are a thing!! What!!
Example:
Making more things directly “clickable” in Maps, like streets…
Another idea as a follow-up on this to add functionallity to the highway shield library to be able to get a paintable object given a place' network tags. So that we could show that instead of the generic “car” icon for roads when available.
last week #zbush — this week the same technique as a cloud-native spatial index

hey #Mapstodon #OpenStreetMap #Geo what if we could use a single remote file as a cloud-native spatial index: With a Z-Curve and the BIGMIN optimization i haz it
more context here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/daniel-j-h/diary/406584
help me test and refine it?
Done mapping all 20 #barangays of Rosario, Cavite, #Philippines in #OpenStreetMap, creating their #Wikidata items, and linking the two with each other.

Hello world! We're excited to launch social channels for #r5py, the Python package for super-fast multimodal #traveltime and #accessibility calculations using #OSM & #GTFS data. Follow us for tips, updates, and examples! #r5py #GeoSpatial #Python #UrbanPlanning #GIS #Mapstodon
been working on this #zbush spatial index but what's holding its web port back is that I can't get speedy bit-wise operations going
https://www.npmjs.com/package/zbush
it's a great little spatial index with its own personality — but so far looks like a fundamental mismatch for the web platform
there should be an easy way to create #Anki spaced repetition decks for learning about a new city, streets, POIs #Mapstodon #OpenStreetMap
based on https://chaos.social/@djh/114353061956304750 I present: #zbush - a very fast spatial index for 2D points based on a z-order space filling curve and BIGMIN search space pruning
npm install zbush
https://www.npmjs.com/package/zbush
Let me know how it works for you? It's wip but shows promising results!!
@gremaps Droit de suite : j'ai provisionné mes deux premières cartes de @gremaps, un cartographe aussi talentueux que fort sympathique.
