Why does my laptop keep coming out of hibernate on #LinuxMint.
Tis very annoying as sometimes gets quite hot

Second day using Linux, my thoughts are such:
There's a sort of intangible but noticeable difference between software made by people who fucking love computers and can't help themselves but make things for them on them, and software made by people trying to make rent and bonuses because a boss said so.
Sure, not everything instantly works, but a whole lot of people have collaboratively tried!
Okay so I'm going to need a new music player, and am accepting recommendations... My absolutely necessary qualities are: Runs on Mint, needs to be easy to install, absolutely must have a playlist sorting mechanism that allows me to make it do in a descending order (artist, album, album date, track number) and lets me customise the order of columns also.
Tried Clementine and can't figure out how to do these in it, and am too tired to figure out if you even can?
Funciona.
Oma hat jetzt Linux Mint.
@neil it got me as well. Really liking #LinuxMint
Once again, this month I'm using #LinuxMint with #XFCE

Thanks to @0mega I have stumbled upon the interesting article about porting the great #DayOfTheTentacle to Linux by @Cheeseness and the glorious "Tux taking on the world" artwork!

Thanks for the bringing the gane to Linux! Just a while ago I have sent the game as a starting gift to my mother who has a new laptop capable handling some games and is running on #LinuxMint.

My XFce Win11-like theme under Linux #Mint. The theme has a couple of bugs, but overall it works well.
I found that XFce is the most themeable of the DEs, however it has started showing its age. For example, no connection of open apps to their launcher (they open a second icon), no "live" thumbnail of an open app, etc.
Since I have found that installing #linux has become easier and easier the last few years, I decided to conduct an experiment. I gave my 10 year old daughter a usb stick and had her install it on a Dell laptop from 2011.
I recorded the whole thing (recorded her on my phone while a capture card recorded her screen). And for the most part, it went well. There was an issue about the correct time zone - which I believe is either due to the collapse of the US educational system or even more likely her mother's fault. Unfortunately, after installing Linux Mint all the way. She wasn't able to get the wireless card working. In her defense, I couldn't either until I connected a cat5 cable and downloaded the drivers.
The thing is: I was able to connect to the wireless router when I booted to the live distro. The drivers had to have been on the stick! Why didn't they install?

anyone else having problems installing linux-kernel 6.14 on #LinuxMint ?
Haha alright, I had way too much fun customizing my desktop.
The only thing I can't figure out is how to change the icon text color to black with no shadows.
#mint #linuxMint with #cinnamon Desktop
- I am attracted by having support until 2029.
- worked first time
- all my files just opened in something sensible.
- cinnamon is not as smooth as gnome or plasma, but seemed reasonably ok. I miss the overview feature- really nice in gnome you can do a three-finger slide, and it's easy to get in and out of. Cinn.'s "scale" can't be cancelled, e.g. by clicking desktop, so you have to choose an app.
I replaced Linux Mint with elementary OS, and I’m very happy with it. Mint is not bad, but it’s not exactly what I was looking for. I’m sure elementary is it. After using it for several hours, I can say that it’s even faster than Mint and looks super nice. I love how light it is.
Just a quick update on my search for a qualitative data analysis tool that works with Linux:
I found a list of tools and am checking them one by one.
If you have any experience of using any of the tools mentioned in the list, especially in a Linux environment, I would love to hear from you!

Switching my computer to Linux Mint...wish me luck! I've never done this before.
Goodbye Windows. I won't miss you constantly installing programs I don't use.
