The session had engaging discussions on having point-update “releases” for LTS with Debusine, packaging security updates for firmware-nonfree, ca-certificates, and work towards compliance with new regulations like the #CRA.

Debian 13 “trixie” is now the new Debian stable!

It will be supported for the next 5 years by the Debian Security team (https://security-team.debian.org/) and Debian LTS (https://wiki.debian.org/LTS) team, with up to 10 years of support via Freexian’s Extended LTS (https://www.freexian.com/lts/extended/).

@triskelion @purism I appreciate what GrapheneOS and other projects are doing. I wish gOS good luck in:
- getting early access to future #AOSP sources as development is no longer public.
- fixing the myriad of #Google shenanigans with the OS and Chromium.
- getting mental health help for the main developer - he deserves all the help he can get.

Unlike gOS, #Linuxphone development is not riding on decades of Google funded development of the OS. Progress is therefore slower but it is improving gradually.

Besides #PureOS, there is also #Mobian and #postmarketOS - I especially look forward to the latter's future #ImmutableOS version which would have security benefits as well.

Ubuntu 20.04 “Focal Fossa” has reached end-of-life!

With the release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, regular support for 20.04 has ended.

This also affects Cryptomator: Future releases will only support Ubuntu 22.04 and newer.

Still running Ubuntu 20.04? Now’s the perfect time to upgrade!

Does anyone have any handy guides for properly locking down a linux server used for hosting? I've been doing an okay job with mine but I think if anyone has a good guide about how to make sure I didn't miss anything, that would be nice!

It's primarily for web hosting, including fedi, and sometimes as a fallback matrix/chat thing. Boosts appreciated!
