Mind Shambles
Looking for fedi help.
I have been trying to install lubuntu (linux) on an old HP intel celeron laptop but cannot get it to boot from the USB stick with an iso image as explained via the lubuntu site. I can see the image files but cannot get it to boot so I can install. Does anyone have any experience, as I cant find a good answer online even though ive spent hours reading.

#lubuntulinux #linuxhelp

Rose Puckey 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏳️‍🌈
I have a Linux Mint question for you lovely lot. Since rolling back to a timeshift snapshot from a few months ago to overcome an issue with a rogue kernel, at boot I get the following:

/dev/sda2 has been mounted 1 times without being checked, check forced

It goes on to run a test, starts to boot then runs fsckd on my Root partition (/dev/sda2) which takes an absolute age.

Any idea why this is suddenly happening and how to stop it would be ever so gratefully received.

#Help #Linux #LinuxMint #LinuxHelp

The way to make it work would be to a) follow that hashtag and offer help, and b) add that hashtag to threads where you're helping, in order to normalize it. Of course, you fundamentally need a lot of people to go along with it to make it work.

But......

How do I easily access the special signs? Like how do I get to the copyright sign? I know it's Alt+0169 for Windows, but I haven't a clue how to access it in Linux... Or the special letters, like the ones with umlauts and such? I know most of the alt codes but they are useless in Linux.

The guides I found all talked about things that made no sense to me. So, is here anyone that can assume that I am the biggest n00b that they'll ever meet, and explain to me how to get to those special signs without needing to get a degree first?

I know I am asking a lot, as I'd preferably need a "do this, do that" explanation, so it would talk me through every step along the way. But it would help me loads, as I need those signs and letters quite a bit when I am writing for my blog.

Thanks in advance!
