We dedicated a day last month just to explore Mjóifjörður, a fjord in East Iceland that we had never been before. 99% of the road was unpaved. It was a hot, sunny day and the drive was quite dusty, but I was thankful for the good weather. Driving it in a crappy weather is not recommended due to the many twists and turns.

It took us two hours to reach end of the road: Dalatangi, one of the easternmost points of Iceland, if not the easternmost. There, stood two lighthouses: the older one from 1895 and the "newer" one from 1908 which is still in use.

Pictured is the old Dalatangi lighthouse. It's the cutest.
