'In 1992, the first “#Euro” standards for #vehicles were put into force. These standards — which applied to all countries in the #europeanunion plus #Norway, #Iceland, and #Liechtenstein — were designed to reduce #emissions of harmful local air #pollutants, including #NOx.

All new vehicles sold in these countries had to be below these emission limits, and these standards were tightened over time. “Euro 1” was launched in 1992, and we’re now on #Euro6 standards.'
