ibk<p>All I can say is thank goodness for this election!<br>I use old envelopes to write shopping lists and other notes on. But my supply has been dwindling because I don’t get many letters any more.<br>Week 1 of the campaign and I already have enough supply to last me several months.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/auspol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>auspol</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/postalVote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postalVote</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/junkMail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>junkMail</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/adaptiveReuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>adaptiveReuse</span></a></p>
Swede’s Photographs<p>Good morning. ☕☕☕</p><p>6 February 2025</p><p>I regularly donate to a few select charities and causes. As a result, I'm inundated with junk mail requests for donations. Most of these go directly into my shredder since I don't respond to mail requests. The few causes that I support are ones I either sought out or stumbled across. Interestingly, some donation requests come with money, so now they're sending me money. I have a dollar bill and a small collection of nickels that certain organizations have sent me. Perhaps they do this so I have to open the envelope and remove the nickels before shredding it. I really, really hate junk mail.</p><p>"Christmas cards ... are technically only junk mail from people you know." - Patricia Marx</p><p>"Unsolicited advice is the junk mail of life." - Bernard Williams</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photo</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photographer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photographer</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photographylovers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photographylovers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/morning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>morning</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/sunset" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sunset</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/inverted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>inverted</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/junkmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>junkmail</span></a></p>
LisaH<p>I got one of those unsolicited credit card offers in the mail. There is an opt-out phone number that supposedly stops these offers for 5 years from all 3 credit reporting companies. The recording gives some generic company name. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/credit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>credit</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/creditcards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>creditcards</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/experian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>experian</span></a></p><p>But it wants me to provide my social security number. <br>I feel uncomfortable providing my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SSN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SSN</span></a> to an automated line</p><p>Has anyone used this opt-out method? Swede’s Photographs<p>Good morning, friends. 🌺🌺🌺</p><p>17 September 2024</p><p>I give regularly to certain charities and causes. The problem is I'm inundated with junk mail because of that. Another source of junk mail are organizations that I belong to who also insist on sending me a monthly magazine. All of this stuff goes straight into my shredder, unless the envelope contents are too bulky forcing be to open it before shredding the contents. The magazines, well I shred my name and address and throw the magazine away. Needless to say, it is annoying. My shredded paper bin is filling up faster every day. Don't get me started on junk email, I spend time every day deleting unsolicited email, I don't bother to read it.</p><p>"It seems a long time since the morning mail could be called correspondence" - Jacques Barzun</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photo</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photographer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photographer</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photographylovers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photographylovers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/morning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>morning</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/flowers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>flowers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/junkmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>junkmail</span></a></p>
Jon Knight<p>I've just had one of those annoying pizza shop flyers put through my letterbox, despite the "no junk mail" sticker.</p><p>Still, I can convert this flyer into an actual pizza.</p><p>Admittedly I do have to compost it for 6 months, then use the compost to grow onions, tomatoes or other veggies next year, and then make a pizza at home (the best kind). But hey, its free compost material and home made pizza is sooooo much nicer than shop crap.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/growyourown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>growyourown</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/junkmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>junkmail</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/pizza" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pizza</span></a></p>
Jonathan Kamens 86 47<p>New hot take after spending countless hours going through years of accumulated paperwork at my elderly uncle's: every mailing that is an advertisement should be required by law to have the words "this is an advertisement" printed on both sides of the envelope or postcard, with FTC enforcement power.<br>The quantity of deceptive, time-wasting mailings my uncle has received is appalling. This simple law would fix that.<br><a href="https://federate.social/tags/ElderAbuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ElderAbuse</span></a> <a href="https://federate.social/tags/scams" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scams</span></a> <a href="https://federate.social/tags/JunkMail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JunkMail</span></a> <a href="https://federate.social/tags/advertising" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>advertising</span></a></p>
