Happy birthday to #inventor Hedy Lamarr (1914 – 2000) & Hollywood star. Born Hedwig Keisler in Vienna, she gained fame after her risqué & notorious starring role in Machatý's ‘33 film Ecstasy. Mandl, 1st of 6 husbands, objected & tried unsuccessfully to buy all copies of film. Hedy objected to him, a munitions manufacturer, dealing with fascists despite both being of Jewish heritage. “ In the 1940s, few Hollywood actresses were more famous and more famously beautiful than Hedy Lamarr. Yet despite starring in dozens of films and gracing the cover of every Hollywood celebrity magazine, few people knew Hedy was also a gifted inventor. In fact, one of the technologies she co-invented laid a key foundation for future communication systems, including GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi.” history.com/news/hedy-lamarr-i

My quest to show the little one what it's like to be a #Maker, #Inventor and general #ProblemSolver continues. If they want to make something I never say no.

Today they wanted to make a germ, so we whipped together a Covid19 virus inspired little fella out of whatever we had at home. Turned out quite alright...

Never a dull moment.

Do say hello!

I've dabbled for a long time in ways to extract electricity or energy from the oceans - wave or tides. Stephen Salter laid the foundations for the field. His obit suggests his efforts may have been spiked by competing interests. But by then he was on to other things anyway.

I wonder if his type of thinker is possible these days?

I wonder where we'd be now if he'd not been sunk?

The Guardian · Stephen Salter obituaryBy Paul Brown

Hello everyone, finally sharing my #introduction with you all. If you read this, please say hello! Some fun facts about me:
- I’ve enjoyed a very rewarding career as an #inventor and #founder of #DeepTech #startups. Nowadays I help other entrepreneurs do great things.
- I was called a #HEPAMilitant and blocked by NB’s education minister, for offering to build #CRBoxes for classrooms.
- I’m a big music fan and was at the Horseshoe Tavern in #Toronto when the Stones played a secret gig there.
