Been having lower back pain for 4 months now. Didn’t do anything specifically to trigger it; just came on. I’ve been whacking up on ibuprofen and acetaminophen for pain. Went to the doctor the other day. Sent me in for x-rays and said I’ve got sacroiliitis, some issue with my SI joint. Now sending me in for CT scans. So I bought a new chair for my evening music sessions yesterday. Tried it out the last couple nights, and wow. Game changer. My last chair was flat as a board on the back. This chair has an adjustable lumbar thingy with mesh fabric back. Sat in a bunch of chairs at Staples and I knew right away this is the one. Zero pain the last couple nights at the DAW. Also, for guitar players like me, the arms easily pivot up and swing out of the way. Bonus. It’s called a Raynor Ion chair. So far, so good. #music #gearsquad #health #review #guitar #recording
I know things are bleak at the moment, but just remember, you can abuse an analog synth as a fuzz pedal and play "somewhere over the rainbow" on guitar into it
You really need to use a noise gate for this or have way better technique than I have.
the Ibby restoration goes quite well. New fixed bridge installed to make up for the absolutely wrecked one, all the hardware replaced with close to as original as possible parts as we could find, and the neck restored. Tech is having some issues with the frets but nothing he can't handle.
So the next question--what the hell should I put in her for new pickups?
It's an #Ibanez RT line, Japanese production. I've got metal shredding axes all over my studio, so I don't really need to stress that sound. That said, I do like high gain, with a bit of a punch and oomf. Wanna stay passive as we don't really want to go carving more cavities in the body after all the dancing around we had to do to get a new bridge installed.
So, #Guitar peeps; Thoughts, suggestions?
For recs, please include links to audio samples as well as to the product pages of pickup manufacturers.
Much love and thanks!
Hey there! I’m a Software Engineer who loves understanding how everything works. Big fan of aviation, video games, guitar, books, movies, and growing in my Christian faith. Most importantly, I’m a husband and dad to two amazing daughters who are my whole world. Here to share, learn, and connect—with a mix of tech brains and fun vibes.
Real talk: I fell for this demo - when #hp42 talks, I listen Seemed like the EXACT! kind of sound I always end up gravitating towards in amp sims; I went & bought the bundle & holy crap does it sound good
It's basically standalone plugins of the each of the classics; Tweed, '65 Reverb, AC-30 & Marshall - that's all they do & they do it so flippin well they're not for everything; I'll still have use for Amplitube, but for these sounds? Fogetabowdit
A busy few days doing music stuff. Back home for a bit before we’re off again. I don’t own a Gibson #guitar - I like my offset Fenders and Reverends - but if I did, it would be a Honeyburst Les Paul…
I will never understand this. £6,000 for a new guitar that someone has taken sandpaper to.
Seems a bit weird to have the theme from a decidedly middling film on my default playlist but damn - Tom Morello & Ramin Djawadi? That's a match made in Valhalla
Got the final mix done on the new song and uploaded. Retro protest tune. Strange, but had to express a message. Tonight I added a vocal blurb just before the banjo solo. Finished. On to the next tune, whatever that may be. #music #protest #politics #guitar #gearsquad #recording #songwriting https://youtu.be/6MSTJYvIqBo
"Cool Kids" by Echosmith is one of those songs that still gets me despite being over 10 years old now. Who does not want to feel that they belong, hmmm?

#Synth arpeggiation, retro bass, twanging #guitar and faithful drum machine. :)
In the basement building the artwork for my new rockabilly protest tune. Hopefully I’ll get it up on youtube etc in the next day or so. Tweaking the mix a bit more too. Backing chorus vocals turned out okay. Playing with final levels. Here’s a recent sunny day pic of my basement music corner. #music #recording #gearsquad #songwriting #guitar
Tonight, Monday April 14, from 8-9 PM EDT (UTC-4), I'll perform my 255th #ambient #guitar #improv #livestream, likely with #mircotonal #justIntonation Tele Deluxe. Note that this one's an hour--I'm part of a scheduled one-hour-per-slot raid train.
Let's find out where the oscillations lead us. https://twitch.tv/onezeromusic

Here’s a prelim rough mix of my bizarre 3-chord rockabilly protest 12-bar thing, “March Like Hell.” Gretsch 5422 was used for the 3 rhythm tracks, bass was Fender p-bass and banjo solo is a Gold Tone Cripple Creek 6-String Banjitar (same tuning as guitar). Drums are MT Power Drum Kit free plugin. Basic A-D-E chord fingering repeat progression with everything capo’d at the 3rd fret. Used slap delay on the Gretsch and 15ms delay on the banjo. Pedals on the Gretsch were Keeley compressor, TC Flashback delay and MXR Timmy for some very mild overdrive. 160bpm, 1:50 song length. Tracked some subtle chorus backing vocals tonight. Gotta listen tomorrow and see how it sounds before adding to the mix. #guitar #music #recording #banjo #gearsquad #songwriting #bass #mentalhealth
