Skype (° 2003) stopt ermee in mei.

Oh, but “did Joe Biden drop out” makes for a bad comparison, Lety! You should be looking up search term ABC or search query XYZ--

BITCH THE MATH MATHS OUT NO MATTER WHAT THE FUCK YOU DO, HERE'S “WHEN DID JOE BIDEN DROP OUT” MAPPED AGAINST “SYDNEY SWEENEY NUDE”!!!

I know what the American consciousness prioritizes! That's why I PROMOTED THE ELECTION with MY FUCKING TITS!

Shoutout to the dozens of people who told me they registered to vote in light of that, and shoutout to all the gooners who stopped gooning to “Sydney Sweeney nude” long enough to go vote.

I cannot stress enough that the McRib hasn't been back since since last Thanksgiving by the way. There's been almost zero McUpdates since.

That's why it McSpiked last year, but as for the recent upwards trend? Well, that's the American cultural consciousness collectively going “Hm, been about a year since I had a McRib, hasn't it?” and looking it up.

Like Americans are dumb, but we're not that dumb. We just literally don't give McFuck.

At almost every given point, we care more about the Ghosts of McRibs Past than the current state of the US Election.

We are a completely unserious nation at our core.

My complaint isn't of the implications. Harhar, “Muricans dumb”, very funny. It's a classic joke, I won't deny it.

I'm here to bitch about MATHEMATICAL LITERACY.

Especially given the math here at play here is genuinely fucking hilarious, we're just looking at the wrong graphs! Like what happens if we drag these graphs out an entire fucking year-- HOLY SHIT

What other data point should we contextualize this with? Let's take the McRib sandwich from McDonald's.

It's a limited-time menu item that's not seasonal, but rather available based on prices of the pork market. So like, pretty fucking random, and there's a huge marketing blitz whenever the item's back.

The average American is not Googling “McRib”, This is not a common thing to look up. When the McRib comes to town, it makes itself known.

Alright EUROPEANS, I'm getting real fucking sick and tired of “Americans didn't even know if Joe Biden dropped out, they were Googling it on Election Day!”

Every other political thread, some fucker brings that up with no context, citing this Google Trends data below.

And like, yeah. That looks real fucking scary, if it measuring numbers of people making that search. It's not though, because Google Trends measures INTEREST OVER TIME, as in RELATIVE INTEREST. That's why the graph is out of 100!!!

Roughly 20x the people looked this question up on Election Day relative to October 26. That sounds bad, but is absofuckinglutely meaningless without another data point to contextualize it.
