Was thinking what to do with the ever growing #Linux #Firmware we have. Recently #Nvidia tossed in ~60MB of files required by #Nouveau drivers for newer cards. (Not sure how much needed). git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/k

So I went looking into firmware compression and enabled this in the #Kernel but in the end this did not really lower my footprint. So I ended up splitting the 570.x firmware files into a separate package leaving some symlinks in the nvidia directory. Now I at least have a choice.

Is anyone out there familiar with the whole BQ Cervantes e-reader ecosystem? The company went under a few years ago, but I have a device and would like to make some modifications to the screen resolution and frame buffer.
I know it's possible, since there was a "hacker" version of their OS, based on Debian 7 "wheezy". But my problem is the firmware(?).

I was hoping to find a former engineer who had worked at the company or something...I'm sure they're out there and the device still works - why not breath new life into it?

Firmware flaws in 240+ Gigabyte motherboards (2017–2021) could allow stealth malware to bypass Secure Boot and take full control. ⚠️🛡️

Fixes exist, but nearly half the boards are unsupported due to EOL status—leaving many users exposed. 💻❌
Check for updates or consider replacing hardware.
