Paco Hope #resist
@fosserytech This article on #Firefox 141 reads like press release stenography. It says:
“Mozilla says that this new privacy feature works by splitting exceptions into baseline (core functionality) and convenience (extra features), allowing you to choose improved site compatibility without compromising key privacy protections.”

That’s it. Not one example of things in 2 categories where there used to be one category. With the Mozilla Foundation acquiring an online advertising company and steering into AI and ads, every change to #privacy features needs to be scrutinised. Does it make ads work better? Is that the “improved site compatibility” that they’re talking about?

It’s a rubbish article because it does little more than restate what #Mozilla apparently said. It ads no information and doesn’t even attempt to put the statement into context. It doesn’t even link or explain the source of Mozilla’s statement. Where did they “say” that? I need to go there if I want to understand, because this author couldn’t be arsed.

House Panther :verified_paw:
I feel a bit conflicted at the moment about the browser that I've grown to really like, #vivaldi. I just learned that Vivaldi is not open source and that gives me great concern because I've made a commitment to open source, non-proprietary software. However, #Vivaldi seems to be doing things better and more responsibly. Do I make an exception?

I guess I do because the dominant open source web browser, #Firefox, just feels really clunky to me. I much prefer the feel and usability of Vivaldi. I also feel better knowing that Vivaldi is in Norway and not the United States. So I can make the exception on that alone.

Really rushed this out so imagine some bugs will have crept in, please report them here or via GitHub as usual ❤️

This post explains why and how Kaushik Gopal uses Firefox and provides some handy tips.

He recommends enabling the AdGuard filters in the uBlock Origin settings but the extension flags all of them as out of date. Any issues with these filters?

Update: I need to refresh and apply the filter list. Thanks @laurentb

Hab es rausgefunden:

Disable AI-Tab-Groups about:config:
browser.tabs.groups.smart.enabled - false
browser.tabs.groups.smart.userEnabled -false

Tab-Gruppen komplett abschalten:
browser.tabs.groups.enabled - false

"Firefox bringt KI-Assistent für Tab-Gruppen"

Die wichtigste Info fehlt: Wie genau stellt man das ab? Da wird zwar gesagt " Will der Anwender die automatischen KI-Vorschläge für Tab-Gruppen nicht nutzen, kann er sie in den Einstellungen deaktivieren." Ich finde das bei mir nicht. Oder meinen die about:config?

browser.ml.chat.enabled (AI-Chatbot) habe ich bereits deaktivert
