#OTD the #Titanic sank in 1912. When I was a very small child, I knew an old woman who narrowly escaped this disaster. As the governess of a US millionaire's children, she was supposed to be travelling on the Titanic. They arrived too late in England and couldn't get tickets.
Shortly before her death, she gave me some old #yarn. I haven't dared to use it to this day because it's like travelling back in #deepTime. 113 years can feel so near.
H is for... #HandSewing
Cut up a couple old raggedy tshirts to make zokin (and a few more little projects, too...)
#Weekend - slowing down with some #wildStitching in dialogue with a #flower. #bloomscrolling #embroidery #artBooks #artJournals #nature #handstitching
Did a bit of #VisibleMending on smallest daughter’s current favourite sweatpants. The bunnies are cute and always fun to use the #embroidery skills on something practical as well as appealing. #RepairReuseRecycle #Stitchcraft #HandSewing
i added LOTS of patches to my waist pouch and brought it along thinking i’d need it for outfits without pockets. turns out i’m just wearing it all the time for the great convenience of storing my face mask! it’s something i frequently take on and off whenever we pop indoors and out.
Three of nine characters stitch-complete. Two pear characters and the acorn hat character are done. A pair each of cherry, strawberry, and apple pickers remain.
For illustrator and fiber artist Tomoko Kubo, the Japanese lettering system sparked an ongoing series of embroideries that also function as playful linguistic learning tools.

A friend took this picture and it made me lol.
EDIT: This is Shannon Downey. Her glorious website is https://www.badasscrossstitch.com/
Oh dear, I just discovered the Antique Pattern Library and now I suddenly have way too many embroidery patterns I want to make.
Another Impossible Mission variation:
- Bigger pixels.
- Rays done with metallic thread (looks very nice in person)
- different hero sprite.
- "Nothing here"

An experiment with hand stitched applique... (very much a work in progress!)
I told my best friend that I might start a Floss tube channel and she said to just do it. Floss tube is the name for YouTube videos from the cross stitch community. I have no idea how to connect with people other than to maybe email the peeps that I watch now about it. I figure that all I need is my phone to record, a microphone and some way to edit. That last part might be the hardest to come by as I don't have cash for a program and I also use a Chromebook. Anyway, thinking about how to make this happen.
Has anyone else misused an #embroidery machine for #sewing? #hacking #making
Dear #embroidery fediverse, I recently got the genius/stupid idea to use my embroidery machine to stitch #scouting badges. It was quite clear to me that alignment would be crucial — and I guess that I was right. Any idea how to improve this (frame or stitching type)? (More photos in my next toot!)
