Weinend aber auch lachend verabschieden wir uns von Tommy.
Weinend, weil es immer traurig ist, wenn eine Fellnase geht. Aber lachend, weil er in wenigen Tagen 20 (zwanzig!) Jahre alt geworden wäre.
Er hatte ein bewegtes Leben und zum Glück dann das beste Zuhause überhaupt gefunden - in einem Rudel mit 12 anderen!
Wir durften ihn mit frischem Futter viele Jahre begleiten.

Just kidding. He has plenty of energy to drag me across the neighborhood to the various troves of dog treats he knows about. Smart dog, is Pep, and all muscle.
If we find ourselves within about a four-block radius of a known treat cache he manages to get me over there with his amazing PEP — Peak Envelope Power.
I just received word from his havers that Pepper, the kelpie we borrow from friends, is facing a 25% reduction in his dog food ration. He's on a diet. Poor Pepper!
He evidently gets more calories from food the toddler flings down from the high chair.
I figure that, because he can still count to four, we'll have to reduce the size of the measuring cup we use to measure out his dry food. He's probably smart enough to discern that, as well.
Treats are said to be OK though.
A lean and hungry look. He's left with barely enough energy to get out of the futon.
