Our statistics provide a conservative estimate of preprint adoption. The actual adoption is somewhat higher.</p>
Ludo Waltman<p>We urge stakeholders in the research system to work with innovation-friendly bibliographic databases. Examples of databases that are more supportive of innovation include <a href="https://social.cwts.nl/tags/Dimensions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Dimensions</span></a>, <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@OpenAlex" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>OpenAlex</span></a></span> and <a href="https://social.cwts.nl/tags/EuropePMC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EuropePMC</span></a>, among others.</p>
Eric Schares<p>I used the <a href="https://scholar.social/tags/Dimensions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Dimensions</span></a> paid web interface on Jan 6, 2025 to try and replicate the numbers. Dimensions has a ready-made filter (which I helped create) to add ~250 US federal funding agencies to a search with one click, so limiting the results is easy.</p><p>Results vary depending on single year / lumping all years together and which document types are included.</p>
