After the Bittern fly by a Common Tern was up to all sorts of aerobatics by the reception hide.
Now that I'm at home on my desktop, here's a proper edit of this nice view with the remains of a kiva in the foreground.

Loneliness
Lors des seules vacances de sports d’hivers que j’ai faites en dehors du cursus scolaire, j’ai testé le ski de fond. Ayant un équilibre lamentable (même en vélo ce n’est vraiment pas terrible), je me suis vautré à plusieurs reprises et fini par me faire mal au coccyx. J’ai laissé tomber le ski et me suis contenté de ballade avec le reflex et pu attraper des images. Celle-ci est une totale ré interprétation notamment en ne gardant qu’une petite partie de l’image, sans ça, la brindille était beaucoup trop petite.
On the only trip to skiing outside of school trip, I tried cross-country skiing. My balance being quite bad (even on a bike, it’s merely usable), I fall a couple of times and ended up hurting my butt. I decided to give up skiing and went on walks with my DSLR and caught some nice pictures. This one is a total reinterpretation by cropping a lot in the original to make the twig more visible.

Just as I finished taking some photos of the Kingfisher a pair of Bittern took flight!
It was amazing to see them and we were so happy to finally catch sight of them, we’d visited wetlands and fens for a couple of years even hearing them boom but not seeing them.
In all the excitement I forgot to raise my shutter speed so there’s not many clear photos of them but these two turned out ok.
We visited RSPB Strumpshaw Few a couple of weeks ago. Not long after arriving the Kingfisher appeared briefly and perched nicely.
Little did we know this was only the start of the excitement…
