joostruis<p>Dick Grune is one of those quietly foundational figures in computing.</p><p>At the University of Amsterdam, he co-developed <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MINIX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MINIX</span></a>, the teaching OS that inspired Linus Torvalds to create <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a>.</p><p>He also created the original <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CVS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CVS</span></a> prototype, paving the way for collaborative source control in early free software.
