Astronomy Picture of the Day<p>APOD from 2025-08-10</p><p>Zodiacal Road</p><p>Zodiacal light, a glow from dust in the inner Solar System, is seen after sunset or before sunrise. Thought to originate mostly from Jupiter-family comets, it spirals toward the Sun. A bright example was captured in Spain's Teide National Park with stars Regulus and the Beehive Cluster visible.</p><p>HD image at <a href="https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap250810.html#space" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap250810.ht</span><span class="invisible">ml#space</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.bot/tags/astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>astronomy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.bot/tags/comet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>comet</span></a></p>

zerotensor<p>I processed the stars, the nebula, and the comet separately, and combined them for the final image. The nebula is rendered in a modified narrowband SHO palette, the stars and the comet are rendered in color-calibrated RGB. The isolated, registered, and stacked image of the comet was placed back into the scene -- in a darker patch of the nebula along its observed path where it would not overlap too many stars. </p><p><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/astrophotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>astrophotography</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>astronomy</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/comet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>comet</span></a></p><p>2/2</p>
