Ada :v_trans: :v_pan:<p>Okay, CircleCI is actually pretty dang nice to work with, it's more intuitive than many other CI/CD platforms in its syntax and docs are concise and easy enough to navigate.</p><p>Especially like the way they've done the workflows, as it makes orchestration ...easy? Combine that with plugins for major platform deployments suddenly you can do more with one file than some folders of shell scripts and config files :neocat_glasses:</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/devops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devops</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/cicd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cicd</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/CircleCi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CircleCi</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tech</span></a></p>
Denny<p>Oooh, <a href="https://boing.world/tags/CircleCI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CircleCI</span></a> added dark mode 🙂 </p><p>Would have been nicer if they'd added it back when I was still doing lots of evening coding, but I'll still take it now.</p>
Denny<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@github" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>github</span></a></span> seems a bit excitable this evening... it's just offered me updates for six different Ruby gems all at once, and they're all flying through <a href="https://boing.world/tags/CircleCI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CircleCI</span></a> at twice the normal speed. ⏩ ⏩ ⏩</p>
Ada :v_trans: :v_pan:<p>CircleCI seems a lil'pricey but like a decent option for my team :neocat_think: </p><p>Like, it seems like the costs can be kept reasonable by using a self-managed runner for dev-builds, and use the managed runner for releases.</p><p>And having native integrations for our hosting provider, deployment methods and all of our targets <em>certainly helps</em> to make things easier when we have no dedicated DevOps in the team (yet).</p><p>Now to figure out if there's some past bad behaviours or other kind of black mark on it I should be aware of...</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/circleci" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>circleci</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/devops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devops</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ci" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ci</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/cicd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cicd</span></a></p>
mgorny-nyan (he) :autism:🙀🚂🐧<p>Dear <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/CircleCI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CircleCI</span></a>, I'd like to inform you that I don't need another "<a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a>" shit. What I'd really appreciate, though, is being able to actually see the text rather than some colorful noise on your overengineered site.</p><p>(Yes, I know I can download the logs to see them. Also, not my package, not my choice of provider.)</p><p>Also, if anyone know how to fix this in <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a>, since it's not the first site where I'm seeing this…</p>
Honza Javorek<p>I want to use <a href="https://mastodonczech.cz/tags/Lychee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Lychee</span></a> (a link check written in <a href="https://mastodonczech.cz/tags/Rust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rust</span></a>) on <a href="https://mastodonczech.cz/tags/CircleCI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CircleCI</span></a>. Doing just `cargo install lychee` took 5min, so I searched the internet and got advised I should use <a href="https://mastodonczech.cz/tags/sccache" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sccache</span></a> to cache dependencies or what.</p><p>Now it takes 13min, because `cargo install sccache` takes 7min and `cargo install lychee` takes 5.5min 🤦‍♂️</p><p>Anyone has an idea how to install a Rust thing to a machine in a reasonable time or how to cache the binary or something?</p>
