lj·rk<p>Hm, still not quite happy with bike routing as well as available data:</p><p>* BRouter takes into account whether a route has a cycleway -- but that part of the decision tree completely disregards the surface quality of said cycleway<br>* ... or whether it's very narrow,<br>* ... or in the dooring zone,<br>* ... or possibly worst: Hides you from potential cars taking a right turn, thus endangering your life!<br>* At the same time, there are many roads where -- even with a bad cycleway -- riding the road is fine or even *great*.<br>* This is especially the case for 30 km/h roads where cars have no business honking me away (fair enough, they do so anyway, buuuuut...)<br>* Generally, the surface quality of even "sett" can vary from "absolutely fine" to "I don't wanna drive over this".</p><p>This means I'm sometimes routed over badly set sett because of "traffic penalty" instead of just riding on the street. Or over a bike lane that's in terrible condition or more dangerous to cycle on than streets (note: in many cases, riding on the street is much safer).</p><p>We probably need some more tag variations for surface quality as well as additional tags for the cycle lane type (or: dooring zone, parking lane next to it, etc.).</p><p><a href="https://todon.eu/tags/bike" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bike</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/OpenStreetMap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenStreetMap</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/BRouter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BRouter</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/osm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>osm</span></a></p>

How come?</p>
Klaus-Gerd Giesen<p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/BendingSpoons" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BendingSpoons</span></a> is a <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/PrivateEquity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrivateEquity</span></a> firm. <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Komoot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Komoot</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/bike" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bike</span></a> users should download their already ridden or planned <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/tracks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tracks</span></a> as <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/GPX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GPX</span></a> files as soon as possible before they have to pay a lot for them (or even to get a <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/map" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>map</span></a> update). Better alternatives to Komoot: <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Routing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Routing</span></a> with <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Brouter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Brouter</span></a> , <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Cyclers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cyclers</span></a> , <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/VisuGPX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VisuGPX</span></a> or <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Valhalla" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Valhalla</span></a> ; (free) navigation with <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/OrganicMaps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OrganicMaps</span></a> or <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/CycleTravel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CycleTravel</span></a> . bemme51<p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/komoot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>komoot</span></a> war ja schon als Routingtool an sich nur für meme-Material von verirrten Leudys im Nirgendwo gut - aber hiermit wird's das dann eh gewesen sein.<br><a href="https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/03/komoot-acquired-history-says-this-wont-end-well.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">dcrainmaker.com/2025/03/komoot</span><span class="invisible">-acquired-history-says-this-wont-end-well.html</span></a></p><p>Hashtag Team <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/brouter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brouter</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://en.osm.town/@bikerouter" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bikerouter</span></a></span></p>
Robin Jayasinghe<p>Vielleicht einfach direkt verabschieden und <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/brouter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>brouter</span></a> nutzen. Bei Komoot hab ich einmal in 2014 oder so das Welt-Paket für 20€ gekauft und seitdem nix für gezahlt. Guter Deal soweit 😅<a href="https://chaos.social/tags/cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cycling</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/trailrunning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trailrunning</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/bikepacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bikepacking</span></a></p>

Möglichst günstig, gern gebraucht und am liebsten mit der Möglichkeit, sie zu <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/DeGoogle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DeGoogle</span></a>|n.
