I drew a shitty starting position with 3 territories. It was clear people were basically gonna take my territories on the way to other things. If my (now) wife merely supported me using a territory she had no other plans for, I could keep one of my 3 territories and make it to round 2. The game is so complicated everyone has to write down their moves and what you write is what happens. She literally forgot to write down ANYTHING for that territory that was supposed to support me. It did nothing that turn. So I was out at the end of the first round in a game everyone else played for like 12 hours. </p><p>I’m no so bitter that I bring it up at every game night. Board.Game.Breakdown<p>I love me some <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Tiletum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tiletum</span></a> but I am pretty bad at the solo game. One thing is, on BoardGameGeek it is rated a 7.9 and is top 300 overall but I NEVER see anyone talk about it. What's up with that? Jens Finkhäuser<p>Living Forest is a pretty nice <a href="https://social.finkhaeuser.de/tags/boardgame" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>boardgame</span></a> , but it has two flaws.</p><p>The first is that the setup is amongst the longest in our collection. That makes it difficult for kids.</p><p>The second is that out of the three ways to win, one is nearly always the easiest, and the other is always the hardest.</p><p>The first issue is one can work around.</p><p>The second means the game's relative complexity isn't matched by a richness of available tactics, and it feels unbalanced. That makes me sad.</p><p>I still like it.</p>
