<48 hrs after dining w/a negotiator sent by #Putin in Washington last week, #SteveWitkoff, the US special envoy leading talks w/Moscow, sat down w/ #Trump & delivered a clear message.

The fastest way to broker a ceasefire in #Ukraine, said Witkoff, was to support a strategy that would give Russia ownership of four eastern Ukrainian regions it attempted to annex illegally in 2022.

Went out to the Hands Off protest today in Santa Cruz. I heard rumors that it's the largest protest in Santa Cruz ever. They announced there were 8,000 people there.

There was lots of good signage. I got interviewed by the local paper.

“The president has justified the imposition of these #tariffs on, in my view, a made-up emergency,” said Senator Tim Kaine, Democrat of Virginia & the lead sponsor of the resolution. “The #fentanyl emergency is from #Mexico & #China. It’s not from #Canada.”

But we don’t live there anymore. We live in a country where the fed govt allies itself w/Russian & South American #dictators while taking sides against #democratic #allies. A country that threatens its neighbors w/annexation. A country that views the #GenevaConventions as namby-pamby suggestions that only apply to suckers & losers. A country that uses #SecretPolice.

And perhaps most importantly, a country where the regime no longer abides by rulings from the existing #legal system.
