Late breakfast of one meejool date ( to go with taking meds). Bought from Waitrose. ( I was only in there to get what I can't get in Lidl). I looked for country of origin and thought it was Morroco but as the country of origin is essentially hidden by a code, I checked on line today and yes, it turns out there's a reason for code instead of country. They were from Israel. As I'm doing my best to boycott Israeli goods due to their genocidal actions in Gaza, it's annoying. So that's the last of those I'll be buying from Waitrose. I want upfront honesty from my food suppliers, and it's just downright dishonest when other goods have the actual name of the country of origin. From now on, I will only buy if it clearly states country of origin. #suppliers #CountryOfOrigin #Israel #Waitrose

In reply to my complaint to #Waitrose about their unethical competition to win a holiday in the Maldives, I just received the following unimpressive reply, copied verbatim complete with errors:

Dear David.

You feedback is appreciated and will be shared with the marketing team for there review.

Kind regards

So the local mini #Waitrose now shows facial recognition happening live on the overhead security monitors. And has huge screens above every self service till to point out that you're being monitored there too.

In future I'll be steering my feet towards a local store that isn't getting frothy at the gusset over surveillance. technology. And fuck off, Waitrose.
