Hand-painting all the frames - front, back, and the inlay (also front and back). Hand-sculpting every little mushroom bead. Carefully cleaning each pair of those lovely scissors that arrived covered in oil. (I appreciate the manufacturer's thoughtfulness, but the oil would ruin the fabric in my kits!)
Oof. So much work.
But I'm so happy when my testers send me their results!

Show me what your work in progress is?

I’m leaning into making “bad art,” rather than not making art at all. So I present to you a watercolor sketch of Bangkok, Thailand. The day I began this was in the middle of burn season, the air was thick with smoke and the sky was shining a hot pink through the sunshine and pollution. The shapes are not perfect, but #art doesn’t have to be perfect. So what’s your current #wip #WIPWednesday

The class is finished. It was a fun sidetrack, but not where I want my art to go. I took one of the final visual sentence pieces, cut it up again, and rearranged it into sparser collage -- better. I recommend the class to stretch your ideas of colour & negative space, but you will end up with something like the first piece. If that's you, have at it!

There it is, the final piece! No more #WIPWednesday for this one.
Monotropa uniflora II, made by request for a customer. As always, it’s much more beautiful in real life, with a lovely color gradient in the light that shows many more subtle hues than photos can capture. The flowers have a glossy sheen, as if covered in dewdrops. The base is covered in 'wet' twigs and mossy earth made out of felt.
