Wild story 😱 The most interesting thing about it, however, is the way LeMessurier's "descendants" refuse to acknowledge the error, even though it was fixed; they want to appear infallible.

But it's known in customer service that people view businesses that correct errors well more favorably than ones that don't make errors in the first place.

The corporate idea about how people work is quite simply wrong.

What a great video by #Veritasium on voting systems!

Which voting systems have you used in your country / association / anything where you could vote?

Within #Volt, for internal lists we use ranked choice voting (Borda count), but with an advisory list from the board. There I saw the problem with ranked voting in practice. Now I wonder if we should try rated voting instead!

The 2G and 3G mobile networks are incredibly insecure due to the SS7 network it depends on. And #veritasium has a pretty good walk-through of how it can be abused.

Alternatives: redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=

TL;DW: If you can disable #2G and #3G on your phone, do that. And use encrypted Internet based services as much as possible for texting and calls, like @simplex or @signalapp ... SS7 provides location tracking capabilities without GPS, interception and spoofing of both calls and text messages - at an affordable price for scammers (a few thousand $ per month).

🚨 URGENT SECURITY ALERT 🚨

Just watched this eye-opening video by #Veritasium on major vulnerabilities in our phone networks. It affects EVERYONE with a mobile phone. Watch here: invidious.privacyredirect.com/

As a security researcher, I'm stunned by the implications.

Still not over how extremely stupid that #Veritasium vid about the number 37 was! We remove 42 and 69 because of cultural factors making them not randomly chosen, but we don't talk _at all_ about cultural factors that might make people choose variants of 3 and 7, but instead we make it seem like there's something universally unique, from natures side, about 37, even though that was the second to least chosen variant of 3 and 7! Why are they putting this superstitious shit in their science show?

The new #Veritasium video not once mentiong the cultural and religious significance of the numbers 3 and 7 which might nudge us to choose 37, but instead talking about prime factors and maybe we have some innate understanding of the secretary problem is just wild to me!

This is some numerology, superstition, Jordan Peterson bronze age people knew the shape of DNA bullshit
