Earth Notes<p>Our utilities bill for January was substantially lower than that for the previous January, even though this Jan was colder. Effectively an extra ~100kWh of electricity this time in the <a href="https://mastodon.energy/tags/heatpump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>heatpump</span></a> substituted for ~500kWh of <a href="https://mastodon.energy/tags/gas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gas</span></a> the previous year, so an effective <a href="https://mastodon.energy/tags/CoP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CoP</span></a> of ~5 even with the system not fully settled in (and indeed a major fault rectified at the end of the month). And all done with <a href="https://mastodon.energy/tags/TRVs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TRVs</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.energy/tags/microzoning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>microzoning</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.energy/tags/FTW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FTW</span></a>!</p><p><a href="https://www.earth.org.uk/saving-electricity-2025.html#2025-01" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">earth.org.uk/saving-electricit</span><span class="invisible">y-2025.html#2025-01</span></a></p>
