Lisa Kalayji<p>I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that this is one of the most dangerous pieces of software to be foisted on the consumer market.</p><p>"First, even if User A never opts in to Recall, they have no control over the setting on the machines of Users B through Z. That means anything User A sends them will be screenshotted, processed with optical character recognition and Copilot AI, and then stored in an indexed database on the other users’ devices. That would indiscriminately hoover up all kinds of User A's sensitive material, including photos, passwords, medical conditions, and encrypted videos and messages.</p><p>The presence of an easily searchable database capturing a machine’s every waking moment would also be a bonanza for others who don’t have users’ best interests at heart. That level of detailed archival material will undoubtedly be subject to subpoena by lawyers and governments. Threat actors who manage to get their spyware installed on a device will no longer have to scour it for the most sensitive data stored there. Instead they will mine Recall just as they do browser databases storing passwords now."</p><p><a href="https://arstechnica.com/security/2025/04/microsoft-is-putting-privacy-endangering-recall-back-into-windows-11/?utm_brand=arstechnica&amp;utm_social-type=owned" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">arstechnica.com/security/2025/</span><span class="invisible">04/microsoft-is-putting-privacy-endangering-recall-back-into-windows-11/?utm_brand=arstechnica&amp;utm_social-type=owned</span></a></p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tech</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/InfoSec" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InfoSec</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Data" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Data</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Security" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Security</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Privacy</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Surveillance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Surveillance</span></a></p>

Autonomie und Solidarität<p>How the UK is shaping a future of Precrime and dissent management</p><p>Algorithms, facial recognition, and tightening protest laws signal a deepening surveillance state<br>~ Blade Runner ~</p><p>"The UK is expanding its use of predictive policing and surveillance, framing it as a response to crime, protest, and public safety. But the direction is clear: more monitoring, earlier intervention, and more control over dissent.</p><p>In early April, The Guardian revealed that the Ministry of Justice is developing a “murder prevention” system. The tool aims to identify individuals judged to be at high risk of committing lethal violence, based on data drawn from multiple agencies—social care, policing, education. The government has framed the project as a research initiative to improve risk assessments and early intervention. But its underlying logic marks a shift toward ‘precrime’—managing individuals on the basis of what they might do, rather than what they’ve done."</p><p><a href="https://freedomnews.org.uk/2025/04/11/how-the-uk-is-shaping-a-future-of-precrime-and-dissent-management/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">freedomnews.org.uk/2025/04/11/</span><span class="invisible">how-the-uk-is-shaping-a-future-of-precrime-and-dissent-management/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Surveillance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Surveillance</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/SurveillanceCapitalism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SurveillanceCapitalism</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/FacialRecognition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FacialRecognition</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Technology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Technology</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Repression" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Repression</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/State" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>State</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Protest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Protest</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/UK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UK</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Police" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Police</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/PoliceState" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PoliceState</span></a></p>
