Dane :Debian: :OpenBSD: 🍵 :MiraLovesYou:<p>I was trying to transfer an image (screenshot) from my computer to my phone (to text someone), but KDE Connect wasn't able to transfer it for some reason.</p><p>What did I do? Well, I didn't feel like cranking up <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/syncthing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>syncthing</span></a> on my phone (it normally only runs on my phone while plugged in), so instead I pasted the image using xclip, uuencoded it, copied it back to the clipboard with xclip (all in one command). I then pasted the uuencoded text data onto a new note in <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/simplenote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SimpleNote</span></a>, then copied it on my phone and uudecoded it in <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/termux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>termux</span></a>, then sent the photo via MMS.</p><p>Say it with me,</p><p><strong>NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD!!!!!!</strong></p>

I must seek to find a replacement for Simplenote that has a solid TUI/CLI, and cross-platform support.<br>I do not know of any others.</p><p><a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/askfedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AskFedi</span></a>, any tips? I can always just sync plain .md notes with syncthing, but that has a couple pain points: phone battery life, and the loss of the ability to easily share a note with someone else collaboratively</p>

It just dawned on me that while I haven’t ever used <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/WordPress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordPress</span></a>, I am using <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Simplenote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Simplenote</span></a>, which is another <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/Automattic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Automattic</span></a> service. Given that many people have left the company, this does not bode well for its stability. 😒</p>
The Peter Pan of Nerdery™ 🇦🇺🏜️<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mementomori.social/@rolle" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>rolle</span></a></span> I use <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Simplenote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Simplenote</span></a> for super quick, instant notes (including a few "sticky" ones that I come back to on occasion to update), and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obsidian</span></a> for what I call "cold storage" of notes, permanent, detailed and on hand for reference any time I need them. Beyond that, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TickTick" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TickTick</span></a> for task management. This is the result of almost two decades of attempting to simplify my life, fwiw. Linux and Obsidian will work, but best option would be their paid sync service unfortunately. It's cheapish though.</p>
Roni Laukkarinen<p>I have about 10 000 notes in Simplenote. I love the app because it has least friction. Things like Notion, Evernote, Google Docs, Craft and even Obsidian are the worst, too much friction to add a simple note as a dump. I don't want to spend time on not writing, I mean in things like what to add as title, tags, folder, where to put it, how to format it... I just want to 1) open the app, 2) write a note, 3) forget about it.</p><p>Simplenote is 99% perfect, the notes can be without headings, the note list opens up as soon as you open the app. Simplenote has been my daily driver since 2008. 16 years worth of notes. I have a cron job that syncs all note changes to my git repository so I have my notes as txt files always backed up.</p><p>Simplenote's only gripe is that it's too simple. No formatting, they are just text files. I don't miss any features, but they don't seem to develop it any further, see this: <a href="https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/issues/2850#issuecomment-1285251706" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/Automattic/simpleno</span><span class="invisible">te-electron/issues/2850#issuecomment-1285251706</span></a> - Sometimes I need a little formatting to make it easier to read. But I'm too late in the game to switch now. I don't want to leave all my notes behind over the years and importing them to an "organized" app would be too much work.</p><p>What notes app you are using and why?
