Bernie<p>After 41 minutes and 57 seconds of uptime, the firmware froze.</p><p>While I was unscrewing the case to press the reset button on the board, the display started fading.</p><p>That's not too surprising: the original lithium battery was outputting 2.7V (as opposed to 3V).</p><p>I'll go buy a new CR2016. The expected battery life for the <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/SensorWatchPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SensorWatchPro</span></a> is 1 year, while the original <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/Casio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Casio</span></a> board typically lasts 7 years.</p>
Bernie<p>Next, I installed the <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/SensorWatchPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SensorWatchPro</span></a> board into the holder and... CrESnt??</p><p>Ok, this must be the new moon phase function. I start exploring the new firmware without reading the docs, but it's clear that it's a lot more complex than the original thing. After several minutes, I still haven't figured out how to set the date and time 😅</p>
Bernie<p>With the screwdriver that came with my eye glasses repair kit, I disassembled the watch, revealing the original <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/casio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>casio</span></a> circuit board, one of the seven wonders of 1980's consumer electronics.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/SensorWatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SensorWatch</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/SensorWatchPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SensorWatchPro</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/vintagewatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vintagewatch</span></a></p>
Bernie<p>My Sensor Watch Pro just arrived!</p><p>Time to take apart my Casio wristwatch to install it! ...as soon as I can find my tiny philips screwdriver.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/casio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>casio</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/sensorwatchpro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sensorwatchpro</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.io/tags/openhardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>openhardware</span></a></p>
kianryan ☑️🐙🏳️‍🌈<p><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/sensorwatchpro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sensorwatchpro</span></a> built and installed with the custom led screen. Did not go perfectly, but that's probably on me more than anything. It's now working. Running it stock for a few days, will then make a custom firmware build.</p>
Micheal :devterm:<p>Sensor Watch Pro arrived last week for my Casio F-91W with the custom LCD and accelerometer board. Took about 20 minutes to install, including flashing firmware and unnecessary desoldering of a component from the original board.<br><br>Really like it so far, light is still relatively dim, but has the ability to set a custom color and not just green. Seems like the Second Movement firmware might have the ability to change the alarm chime to Zelda, Mario or others which I'll have to explore at some point.<br><br>The tap capability with the accelerometer board is really useful too, even if it's only working for the Countdown app currently.<br><br><a href="https://social.ecliptik.com/tags/casio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>casio</span></a> <a href="https://social.ecliptik.com/tags/casiocult" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>casiocult</span></a> <a href="https://social.ecliptik.com/tags/sensorwatchpro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sensorwatchpro</span></a> <a href="https://social.ecliptik.com/tags/sensorwatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sensorwatch</span></a></p>
Ben Hur<p>It runs on an open source custom firmware called Second Movement and has a custom 92 segment LCD that improves the watch's display/readability. I availed of the accelerometer sensor/add-on board that opens a lot of possibilities.</p><p>Oh, and it also has a full RGB LED.</p><p>Learn more at: <a href="https://www.crowdsupply.com/oddly-specific-objects/sensor-watch-pro" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">crowdsupply.com/oddly-specific</span><span class="invisible">-objects/sensor-watch-pro</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Watches" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Watches</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Casio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Casio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/F91W" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>F91W</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/A158W" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>A158W</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CasioMods" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CasioMods</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OpenHardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenHardware</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SensorWatchPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SensorWatchPro</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OddlySpecificObjects" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OddlySpecificObjects</span></a></p>
