Trump mobilizes Marines and more National Guard troops for duty in LA

The Trump administration is mobilizing 700 Marines based out of Twentynine Palms, Calif., for Los Angeles, the scene of protests against immigration enforcement operations, a defense official confirmed with NPR before it was publicly announced.

The Defense Department is also mobilizing an additional 2,000 California National Guard, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell posted on X Monday night.

President Trump authorized the deployment of the first 2,000 guards over the weekend. It was unclear when all of them would arrive on the ground.

trump wants to ignite violence to provide a rationale for use of the military to suppress all resistance to his coming coup.

Censorship is a hallmark of fascism.

Authoritarianism thrives on misinformation and a lack of information.

Attacking the free press, scientists and dissenting voices is often one of the first signs of a failing democracy.

A number of staff at the NIH have signed a letter titled “I Dissent”.

Three are bravely seen on video discussing the reasons they’re taking a huge risk to career & their lives by speaking out.

“Every day I go into the office I wonder what ethical boundary I will be asked to violate.”

“What probably illegal action will I be asked to take?”

“You can get another job, but you cannot get another soul”

I hope people share this far and wide. Say “I dissent!” With them.

Mayor of LA right now is arguing for immigrants' rights. Calling out specific injustices.

I'm not sure I've ever seen that before, a major of a major US city clearly taking the side of protestors.

Now she's calling out federal government.
"Our city should not be used as an experiment." (Paraphrased.)

Today I invited a couple friends to the #NoKings protest this Saturday, and they were more open to it than I thought. (Not my most political friends.) Turning out lots of folks who don't usually protest would be amazing. I hope Saturday is the day many people wake up and realize the resisting this administration is not fringe, it's what most Americans want.

If you're in the USA, I hope you'll join us!

No KingsNo KingsOn June 14—Flag Day—Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal" is not an option in the USA. It's not immigrants failing the test of being an American, it's people like Kirk and Walsh.

Everything they saying now was said at one point about the Italians and the Irish."

⚡"DAVID IS RELEASED and with his family! He still faces an unjust felony charge.

SEIU CA USWW President David Huerta was assaulted and arrested while standing up for immigrants’ rights.

While we’re relieved that David is out after three nights in detention, we demand the Trump regime drop the unjust charge against him & end the raids!"

In any war, you don't have to destroy your enemy. You just have to make it cost them more than it's worth.

This works at every level, from the soldier wondering if they really should be doing this, to their commanders, to the Trump regime, to the billionaires who have forgotten they rely on us to exist.

Our freedom is worth everything. Our planet is worth everything. Our lives are worth everything.

I'd wager these are worth far more to us than they're willing to spend, just for a little more power.

And they haven't banked on that.

Fuel the fire within you.

This baby's coming out.

Now is the time to push.

The bit about business not offering their services to federal troops in LA made me think of the lesser-known and rarely invoked 3rd Amendment:

"No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

I feel like this might become important soon. So keep it in mind.

Though IANAL, I think this ought to apply to tow trucks, restaurants, food carts, convenience stores, smoke shops, and any privately owned building with a bathroom.

If we won't General Strike, we can at least refuse service to police state enforcers.
