Jo-chin up, elbows up.<p>A work in progress…that’s taken me days & days to get this far, it underwent many changes, but getting close to a finished block in, then will paint it in oils. Part of my Flying Geese series. <br>Really liking this piece. She will hold an uprooted bonsai once I’ve got the garment more resolved. Núria<p>I can’t seem to cut squares or rectangles of fabric, there’s always a pretty irregular spot that makes matching the edges impossible. This makes it difficult to get neat topstitching on things I’d like to have pretty straight, like straps, or bag edges. <br>Would a metal L ruler to cut with a rotary cutter help? I'm retiring it as a bedcover and hanging it on the wall now. There's a large (quarter-sized) hole on the front and the edge binding is very frayed.<br>Does anyone have advice on mending it? I'd like to patch the hole in the front. Magic CauldronDecided on a pattern for my Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt an started to sew a test. My plan - so far - is to use no newly produced fabric. I made the first flowers out of a rest of my 1. medieval-byzantine garb, an old jumpsuit of my kid (woodland critters), a shirt I never wore and a vintage fabric scrap. The border of the flower (or the "ways" between the flowers in the garden, there will also be "leafs" in various shades of green) consists of second hand cloth, I hope I have enough of it. I had the luck to find second hand some vintage fabric from a quilter (may the earth be light on her). I bought ~ 4 Kg fabric online really cheap and without really knowing what was in it, only because of some turquoise cotton fabric I saw on a crappy photo. I gambled a bit and was rewarded. When I opened the parcel I was so happy to find that there were several pieces of (vintage and modern) damask bedclothes included, hand died in green, olive and turquoise. Really, it's an absolute treasure box. <br>

Jo-chin up, elbows up.<p>New piece I’ve worked a while, still in progress. Taking my time developing my work instead of pumping stuff out to share & they are more interesting as a result. Really happy how it’s changed & developed. 12x12” oil on board. I’d like to paint this much larger. Painting faces this small is very difficult. Also, it’s not that textured irl.
