Marc-Andre Lemburg<p>🐍✨ PyCon Italia 2025 in Bologna, Italy, was a fantastic experience... 🐍+🍕=😄</p><p>I gave a talk on how you can use your Python skills to program small embedded devices, hardware displays in particular, to create e.g. interactive badges, small tools like conference times, etc.</p><p>🔥 A perfect combination to get this started is running MicroPython on Cheap Yellow Display (CYD) boards.</p><p>📺 Here's the talk URL: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tGyYZLsgc4" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">youtube.com/watch?v=7tGyYZLsgc4</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/embedded" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>embedded</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/micropython" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>micropython</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cyd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cyd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/talk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>talk</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/conference" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>conference</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pyconit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pyconit</span></a></p>

Most of the action was on the official Discord.</p><p>I did mention to some of the sponsors (that only had ExTwitterInstaLinkedIn, that adding Mastodon and Bluesky would be a good idea)</p>
Andrea Grandi 🦕<p>Are social networks dead for conferences? </p><p>I’ve just been to PyCon Italia and here on Mastodon there have been an average of 2,4 post/day. I counted only 5-6 different people (out of 1000 attendees). </p><p>I also checked Bluesky and Instagram.</p><p>What am I missing?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PyConIT2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PyConIT2025</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PyConIT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PyConIT</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/conference" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>conference</span></a></p>
Steve Holden<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@rzeta0" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>rzeta0</span></a></span> it’s a pleasure, but just like <a href="https://freeradical.zone/tags/PyConIT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PyConIT</span></a> one person wasn’t significant. The important thing that made <a href="https://freeradical.zone/tags/pycon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pycon</span></a> happen, and spread across the world, was communities getting behind the idea and making it happen. If that taught tag the Python community anything it was “the community knows better than anyone else what it wants.” I spent three years chairing and about seven years as a concerned parent, by which time it was obvious I could leave it to others to carry the banner.</p>
