Ach ja, Pro-Tipp: Wer (so wie ich) mit #pihole gestartet ist und alle seine Clients brav eingerichtet hat und dann plötzlich weitere unbekannte Geräte findet und panisch wird, wer denn da im Netzwerk unterwegs ist: Viele Mobilgeräte (Android, iOS) melden sich neuerdings mit zufällig generierten #MAC-Adressen an und bekommen dann folglich ständig neue IP-Adressen zugewiesen.

Kann man in den Einstellungen für die spezifische Wlan-SSID auf dem Mobilgerät deaktivieren, so dass das Gerät daheim die Hosen runterlässt anderenorts aber verschleiert.

Ob das sicherheitstechnisch eine gute Idee ist, das daheim abzuschalten, kann ich nicht sagen. Aber wir sind hier ja im Fediverse: Wenn es auch nur einen Randfall gibt, der dagegen spricht, wird sich sicher wer in den Kommentaren melden! :awesome:

@tg9541 Don't waste a minute on these countermeasures unless you have first, and with immediate effect, severed all and any ties w/ any Meta product whatsoever. PULL OUT of Zuck's shitholes! Shove the Meta crap where the sun don't shine!

Establish DNS-based filtering for your home network, e. g. #pihole as a first line of defence. This is hugely effective not only to protect computers, but also those devices w/o an UI to install adblockers & anti-tracking!

On top of that, harden acceptable web browsers & search engines w/ adblockers and anti-tracking. Learn #digitalselfdefence

I love the idea of #pihole. I like the web UI. I tolerate the update process. I dislike its DHCP server. I hate the fact that every now and then it will grow its “Gravity” log file until the disk is full with predictable results 🤬

Ich habe jetzt mal als erste Maßnahme #pihole im Heimnetz ausgerollt. Nach dem Motto: Wenn das für mich bereits zu hoch, ist brauche ich nicht mit pfsense anzufangen.

Bislang scheint alles gut zu laufen. Etwas schockierend: Obwohl ich meinen Browser bereits ziemlich vernagelt habe (ublock origin mit vielen Listen, Privacy Badger mit schärferen Einstellungen) fischt pihole immer noch die ein oder andere Domain raus. Gruselig, wieviel #Tracking da draußen mitläuft...

#Mastodon and the #fediverse in general is one of the only applications that I still feel comfortable using on my #iPad, because I don’t get inundated with #advertising. Most websites at this point are completely unusable on my #iPad and #iPhone, even though I have a #Pihole on my network, because #Apple won’t let me install #uBlockOrigin on my browsers, and all the proprietary apps are even worse that using a browser. The only other thing on my #iPad that I find tolerable is reading #ebooks.

Bis #RaspAP und #PiHole miteinander harmonisierten war beim Bauen ne kurze Zeit lang bisschen tricky - aber jetzt läuft das alles so geil, dass ich es noch mal mache... mit Anleitungen und Scripts zur Automatisierung...
...nachdem auch #Tor noch als weitere optionale Internetquelle läuft...
