SaaraLast August I saw the most incredible Northern Lights I've ever seen (I've only seen them a few times since I live in the Southern Finland). The entire sky was covered with intense green lights and sudden flashes of red and purple. It was such a divine cosmic sight it was almost terrifying.<br> <br> These pictures are from the last % of the show because I didn't want to miss the most intense part getting my camera. I even managed to capture one of the Perseids in the second picture.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/northernlights?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#northernlights</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/aurora?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#aurora</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/auroraborealis?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#auroraborealis</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/revontuli?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#revontuli</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/astronomy?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#astronomy</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/shootingstar?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#shootingstar</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/meteorshower?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#meteorshower</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/nightsky?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#nightsky</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/longexposure?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#longexposure</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/naturephotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#naturephotography</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/luontokuvaus?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#luontokuvaus</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/wondersofnature?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#wondersofnature</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/perseid?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#perseid</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/perseids?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#perseids</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/breathtaking?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#breathtaking</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/mesmerizing?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#mesmerizing</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/avaruus?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#avaruus</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/space?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#space</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/tähdenlento?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#tähdenlento</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/yötaivas?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#yötaivas</a>

Anneke<p>It’s my birthday! One of my big life wishes is to once upon a time see the actual milky way with my own eyes. Because I’m on a “it’s OK to not have your life together” year I didn’t make work out of planning a trip to a dark zone yet, but me and my wife walked out of rhe city for a little bit and we were able to see a few falling stars 💕 <a href="https://front-end.social/tags/perseids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>perseids</span></a></p>

Got a new 22 minute Pseudopod episode to listen to, this much sky available and hoping to see at least one Perseid. Can't say I haven't tried at least. ⠵⠻⠷⠕⠭ 🍥🍉⚪🌹<p>So PSA, right now if you're in a place with a reasonably dark clear sky and it's ideally after your midnight - it's almost the peak of the Perseids meteor shower! And moreso the next couple mornings at the same time. Get outside, settle in and look up for a while. It's not like fireworks, nature isn't going to cater to our CGI addled expectations but you may be rewarded with a number of bright streaks in the sky per hour. And sometimes they explode. <a href="https://www.space.com/32868-perseid-meteor-shower-guide.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">space.com/32868-perseid-meteor</span><span class="invisible">-shower-guide.html</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Astronomy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Perseids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Perseids</span></a></p>
