Hier eine kleine Geschichte darüber, wie ich zum #MEGA65 kam, und was sich seitdem ereignete.

Looking at schematics and #firmware of #Teufel #MYND waterproof portable speaker.
Very cool to check out their #OpenHardware design, though not much to see.
Everything of note runs through the WB-2835P #Bluetooth / Audio Module. It even acts as USB-Soundcard and digitizes Line-In, then outputs #I2S to the amplifier chips.
In a surprise move, NVIDIA is bringing CUDA to RISC-V CPUs
Announced at RISC-V Summit China , this allows RISC-V processors to run CUDA drivers + logic, with NVIDIA GPUs handling compute tasks
Enables open CPU + proprietary GPU AI systems—big for edge, HPC & China’s chipmakers
A potential shift in global AI infrastructure

@nixCraft and the same is true for #OpenHardware too: once I own it, I truly own it and can repair it myself rather than being tied to a service centre that is a sort of organically regulated sneak-subscription
As a bonus, people who make open hardware tend to care about the product, so I'm more likely to get one that's designed to be long-lasting than one that'll become obsolete as soon as the company can come up with a newer reshash of the same product to thrust onto people
"I’m particularly interested in hearing from institutional designers interested in alternative models for tech financing, hardware developers who’ve struggled with the challenges of open hardware projects, manufacturers who are frustrated by proprietary tooling and licencing fees, policy researchers thinking about the regulatory and economic dimensions, and anyone who’s frustrated with the current state of proprietary hardware dominance."

@tarakiyee is "exploring how we might create sustainable economic models for open hardware infrastructure development that don’t rely on the extractive capitalism that has shaped our current tech landscape"

Had a great time at @opensuse Conference 2025 in Nuremberg! A highlight was the hands-on workshop by @tropicsquar, showcasing #TROPIC01 — the first open and auditable secure element. A big step for verifiable hardware #security in #Linux systems, edge devices & secure infrastructure.
Thanks to the Tropic Square team for the great session and the devkit

At #fab25, I gave a presentation on the significant changes that products in the EU will undergo, and the crucial role that #openhardware can play in this process. I also presented three open hardware products, such as the MNT Reform by @mntmn that are already setting an example. Here are the slides: https://cyber4edu.org/pads/p/FLG4ANnA6#/ #oshw
At #fab25 @josefprusa was asked about #openhardware, here is his answer https://www.josefprusa.com/articles/25-07-10-ohw-dead/ #oshw
