Vale<p>I just published an in-depth post about my configuration of Neovim. It covers every setting, plugin, and custom keymap I use for a good development experience.</p><p><a href="https://vale.rocks/posts/neovim" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://vale.rocks/posts/neovim</a></p><p><a class="hashtag" href="https://fedi.vale.rocks/tag/neovim" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Neovim</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://fedi.vale.rocks/tag/vim" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Vim</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://fedi.vale.rocks/tag/nvim" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Nvim</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://fedi.vale.rocks/tag/programming" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Programming</a></p>

Larvitz :fedora: :redhat:<p>Created a Neovim :neovim: configuration for writing Ansible playbooks/roles/collections. With linting, auto-completion, highlighting of blocks, indentation, git integration and nice UI.</p><p>If someone is interested, I put it on my Codeberg here: <a href="https://codeberg.org/Larvitz/nvim-ansible" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">codeberg.org/Larvitz/nvim-ansi</span><span class="invisible">ble</span></a> together with a README.md, that explains keybindings, installation instructions etc. </p><p>It's also good for Python software development and contains the LSP definitions for that as well. But the primary goal, was to create an Ansible development environment with all bells and whistles :-) </p><p><a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/nvim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nvim</span></a> <a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/neovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>neovim</span></a> <a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/vim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vim</span></a> <a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/ansible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ansible</span></a> <a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a> <a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/devops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devops</span></a> <a href="https://burningboard.net/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a></p>
Leftover woman<p>nvim-parinfer users, how many spaces is the plug-in to indent when you create a new block? In my case it's using just one, which is very annoying <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/nvim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nvim</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/parinfer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>parinfer</span></a></p>
Lukas Rotermund<p>Have you ever heard of foreground and background jobs in a GNU/Linux or Unix context?</p><p>If not:<br>1. jump into your favorite shell<br>2. start e.g. vim with `vim foo.rs`<br>3. now press &lt;CTRL&gt; z<br>4. go to another directory and do an `ls` or so<br>5. and now run `fg`<br>(6. Just downloaded zed, and it feels much more natural to me.</p><p>Maybe vim just isn't for me. After all, I was an emacs-Person in the early 2000s 😅 😉</p>
dtanzer<p>Here's another one: Unless I'm missing something big, multiple cursors in vscode are way more powerful than visual block mode in <a href="https://social.devteams.at/tags/vim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vim</span></a> / <a href="https://social.devteams.at/tags/nvim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nvim</span></a> (because one can move the cursors and have gaps between lines).</p><p>OTOH, I've read that one does not need multiple cursors in vim because there are other, efficient ways to achieve certain goals.</p><p>So, should I bail out and install the multiple cursors plugin for nvim, or learn the vim way first?</p>
