Regarding Saeki Sayaka by Iruma Hitoma

The spin-off novels from the manga/anime “Bloom into You” is the story of the much-adored Saeki Sayaka, the woman whose confession of love comes too late. Saeki-san, now a second-year university student, has a second chance to find love with Hara, an impulsive, perky co-ed.

This is an early entry into the realm of yuri about adult women. A charming, low-stakes slice-of-life story that provides the answer to the question, “But what about the other girl?” Based on Nio Nakatani’s characters, Iruma Hitoma of “Adachi to Shimamura” fame provides characters with depth and a charming romance. (Reading “Bloom into You” is not required to enjoy this series.)

Otherside Picnic by Miysawa Lori

Sorawo, a student of “true” supernatural stories, discovers a door into a new realm where she can finally be alone. Only to become prey to one of its inhabitants, the Kunekune. Rescued by the beautiful Toriko, the two become partners in exploring this land.

Inspired by the Russian novel “Roadside Picnic,” this is a lovely story of two women finding love as they face a string of fantastic creatures of Japanese internet fame. It is a wonderful blend of yuri, science fiction, and horror-adjacent adventure.

#ScribesAndMakers 25-06-02 How do you define your creative style? Part 3

#Photography

* Irratic: Sometimes I'm into sometimes not.
* Escentric: I do urban photography especially of curiosities, decay, or contrasting nature with urban. (Very niche)
* Pragmatic: I use the tools at hand and the scenes at hand. No fancy equipment, no fancy processing, no special trips to photograph things. I invested nothing but the time to get good at using what is on hand.

#ScribesAndMakers 25-06-02 How do you define your creative style? Part 2

Previous Post: I defined the style of my writing.

Now, I will answer the literal question, “What is MY creative style?”

Meticulous, organized, focusing on internal thoughts, emotions, and lush backgrounds. Utilizing literate, neurotic, queer characters. Careful research and utilization of mythology. Striving for inclusivity within the range of my abilities to realistically portray the characters.

#ScribesAndMakers May 27 Think of something really boring. Now try to describe it in an interesting way.

I looked down at the sink. Snow-white bubbles spilled over the frying pan lid. Rainbow slicks slid across the open water.

When I put my hands in the water, it was warm. It had cooled enough not to scorch me but hadn’t cooled too much. It was the right temperature to wash a baby in. But today there was no baby, just a grease pan.

Taking the frying pan, I scowled at the burnt crust on it. Time for Zen meditation on housework.

I like best to capture hidden urban sights and/or contrast urban and nature. Some of my favorites. Not always others.

Sakaura contrasted with a parked car
Thrown away xmas wreath on a garbage can.
A witch doll hung on a tree amid sakura flowers
Metal frog lawn ornament in autumn leaves.
