@mina Well, Mastodon was neither intended nor designed for „overlong posts (in threads)“ (there are weblogs for that). Therefore, you cannot blame (nor re-educate) the system, nor its users, nor a „culture“(?) for not following some non-existing rules you imagine for such cases. 🤷 #MyTwoCents

#Musk acts like people are numbers he can throw around as he pleases— kick them off the job and order them back again (notice it wasn’t even a job offer— it read like an order to report back to work like they’re in the military or something).

Depending on the person situation, they could just say no and not come back to work.

Stacey Abrahams, a lawyer, wasn’t even paid for her advisory counsel role in the related organization.

Nevertheless, #Trump called her out by name in his speech last night—

‘“… and we know she was involved… a woman named Stacey Abrams,” he said. “Have you ever heard of her?”’

(My take: It is fascinating that he called #Abrams out by name. More power to her.)

Okay, so all these tax cuts and the full expensing of manufacturing, etc. will cost the #USA a lot of money. (And #Trump keeps talking about how he will bring down the deficit (but really hasn’t mentioned the debt) and said once in this speech that his admin will balance the budget).

He now seems to be bragging about Taiwanese companies coming to the US (even though Biden did that).

‘Trump dismissed concerns that tariffs are largely paid for by consumers through higher prices, saying: “It’s a myth.”’—

#MyTwoCents -
It’s a myth that HE will pay feel the effects of higher tariff-related prices since the poor and middle class will be affected the worst by his trade war. Further, Trump’s proposed tax cuts will disproportionately help the wealthy, offsetting increased tariff-related costs for them.

But eek— At ~5% savings rate, Americans should be saving more (imho), but it is difficult to do so when prices are high. Unfortunately, people are also racking up credit card (CC) debt.

Fed rate cuts (meant to stimulate economic growth) could help Americans bring down CC debt if they can negotiate lower interest rates with lenders.
