Another Cradle Mountain shot for the #MountainMonday and #MonochromeMonday together. Sorry, that's a lot of Cradle but can it really be too many..?
Anyway, I liked this one for the simplicity and the mist layer making this image.

Every one has a guilty pleasure in his backpack. Something that is probably not really required, but just increases joy. My wife got me a new one: proper binoculars. During hikes I love to sit on a bench and just take in the landscape for a longer period of time. Lately I'm focussing on a-typical features on ridges etc. Zooming in with binoculars let's me check them in more detail. It lets one dream: "has anyone ever been up there".
My colleague showed me his Nikon Prostaff P7 10x42 and was blown away by the clarity and brightness (which is easy, as I'm not a pro in these matters and everything beats 30 euro binoculars). Played with it this morning at it turns out I can now clearly see the buildings on Schynige Platte and the Faulhorn from my A1 spot on the kitchen table. This is going to be fun!

Last light. Same place, different direction, only minutes after...
Happy Monday from Japan, and a good new week to all!
Kamikōchi is a mountainous highland valley in Nagano Prefecture. Some photos from an autumn hike from Kappa Bridge to Myōjin Pond.
New snow melts rapidly under the late April sun in southern New Mexico.
Sierra Blanca looks very different this evening compared to this morning.
Red is not dead !

Very much enjoyed the hike with my daughter to Harder Kulm. It stayed dry during the hike which increased the atmosphere even more. People (who came up by funicular) applauded when we reached Harder Kulm, seriously thinking we did something amazing.
New episode:
"Wahnsinn am Everest - Die Zukunft"
(Madness on Everest - The Future)
The snowstorm in southern New Mexico cleared out shortly before sunset, but Sierra Blanca continued to wear a cap cloud.
After sunset the pink of the sky contrasted with the blue of the terrain and cap cloud.
This photo was taken four years ago today on my very first hike, and it’s still one of my favorites.
Back then, I had zero hiking experience.
Just wanted to follow the trend and get some nice IG photos.
Wearing all the wrong clothes and shoes, I somehow made it up Yuan Zui Mountain.
What started as a one time thing for the gram… accidentally turned into my love story with the mountains.
While photographing a particularly popular Colorado landscape in the fall of 2022, I turned around to find this dramatic scene.
A majestic view of Mount Baker (Koma Kulshan) from Fir Island, WA.
