@Hamishcampbell Or how about a more realistic scenario? The #NYT creates its own instance and opens it exclusively to its #subscribers. They are not charging specifically for it but using it to help #monetize their core business. IMO I think that sort of thing will need to happen for the #Fediverse to gain the scale of the #birdsite. And it would allow users to engage with a likeminded community.
