The EU’s strategy for microchips reviewed by the European Court of the Auditor.

From my point of view, it's a review of a strategy that wasn't perfect, and the audit is about how well the strategy aligns. So it's more of a circular evaluation.

What about open cores and open source models like RISC-V? How will the EU finance innovation in that field? In the end, the most important chips aren't always the high-end ones.

🗨️ “The EU urgently needs a reality check in its strategy for the microchips sector. The 20 % target was essentially aspirational – meeting it would require us to approximately quadruple our production capacity by 2030, but we are nowhere close to that with our current rate of progress.”

- Annemie Turtelboom, Member of the European Court of Auditors
