Sherri W (SyntaxSeed)<p>One of my sons received a <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/MicroBit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MicroBit</span></a> for his birthday. It's a microcontroller kit similar to <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/Arduino" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Arduino</span></a>, but a bit more kid/student friendly. With input buttons &amp; an LED matrix display &amp; various sensors right on the board. Very cool. He can program it with a Scratch-style visual block language (or JS or Python).</p><p><a href="https://phpc.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/STEM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>STEM</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/Circuits" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Circuits</span></a></p>

MBR<p>Thanks to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://metalhead.club/@anji" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>anji</span></a></span> I purchased a <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/microbit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>microbit</span></a> because my 5 yo daughter wanted to tinker with computers as Ada (in Ada and Zangemann by <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@kirschner" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>kirschner</span></a></span>). I started to play a bit with it before doing it with her to get a feeling of its usage. And I ran into 2 issues that might be GNU/Linux related: I get a systematic 504 error when importing (drag'n'drop) an hex file generated from Python, and WebUSB is failing to connect to the device with Chromium (and Firefox is not supporting this unfortunately). Has anyone tried this and been luckier than me? <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/askfedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>askfedi</span></a></p>
Adrian McEwen<p>Got the Microbit and LED noodle fitted to it too and it's starting to come together nicely.</p><p>I've got IO for another two noodles, but holding off fitting them until more of the code is written.</p><p>It's not the brightest LED in daylight, which isn't ideal, but we might be able to tweak the battery voltage, etc. to improve that. Need to work on the battery pack attachment more too.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/weeknotes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weeknotes</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/ibal250" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ibal250</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/microbit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>microbit</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/LED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LED</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/prototyping" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>prototyping</span></a></p>
Simon Walters<p>Today, after taking youngest t to airport this morning and after quite a stressful fortnight, I'm relaxing - watched the original Bourne film and now watching the US Open. In other news - I've sucessfully connected <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@SnapCloud" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>SnapCloud</span></a></span> to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@microblocks" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>microblocks</span></a></span> running on ESP32s and a V2 <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Microbit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Microbit</span></a> :-)</p>
STEAM_Annie 🇬🇧<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@ghalfacree" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>ghalfacree</span></a></span> I love your book 'Getting started with Micropython on Raspberry Pi Pico' and return to it again and again. Now I want to understand the BBC <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Microbit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Microbit</span></a> in a similar way, in really straightforward text like in your Pico book. I've bought a <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Kitronik" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kitronik</span></a> breakout board 5664 to use with a Microbit and breadboard. I've got a pinout diagram. Where can I find out how to use all these pins on the Microbit written in really simple language? We want to do a burglar alarm project with a PIR sensor.</p>

Maybe?</p><p>anyway, I'm CleoQc, a software dev who does more operationals/supply chain than actual software development, but if I were to write code, <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a> would be my language of choice.
