Yesterday we had a small discussion about the future of the Linux Audio Conference. Two main questions arose:
- Anybody willing to organize any possible next edition?
- Should we impose any restrictions on what could be submitted?

Especially the second question spurred some debate because it touches a broader underlying sentiment: should the L in LAC represent more than just Linux?

One thing that changed throughout the kernel development cycle is the way USB audio interfaces are being handled. Somewhere along the line an esoteric setting called implicit feedback was introduced and by default it's disabled. I ran into issues myself (see autostatic.com/tag/ideapad/), I couldn't do proper low latency stuff. But when I enabled implicit feedback the dropouts were gone and now I can go as low as 32 frames.

And stuck at Rotterdam station... My transfer is delayed by over an hour but I can take the first next train which departs half an hour later. And I had half an hour to switch trains in Brussels...

So now I have to change my tickets in Brussels, first the one to Paris Nord but then also the one from Paris Gare de Lyon to Lyon Part Dieu.

Oh well, at least I have my favorite muesli buns.

From Wednesday June 25 until Saturday June 28 I will be attending the Linux Audio Conference 2025 at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) in Lyon.

This conference is not work related, I'm going there out of personal interest. This will be my 7th Linux Audio Conference. Looking forward to it and I won't hesitate to do some SURF name dropping here and there.
