KayOn my way home, I suddenly felt the urge to try some <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/ICM?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ICM</a> again - probably because I’d walked that same old path a hundred times and there was just nothing left to catch my eye. My inner photographer insisted: “Must. Press. Shutter.” So I did, and a quiet thrill set in: What might those images become? What hidden wonders might they reveal? As I continued on my way, I let myself muse over potential editing ideas.<br>

By now, editing my photos is almost like meditation. If I go a few days without it, I feel as if I’m missing something essential - like putting not only my camera, but also a piece of my creative soul aside. Ansel Adams once said, “The negative is the score, the print is the performance.” In other words, without the editing, it’s only half the show - like a choir that rehearses but never performs before an audience. And that’s exactly why I need it: that little celebratory moment where raw material transforms into a resonant symphony… or maybe a funky jazz improv, depending on the mood. The main thing is giving the soul something to do!<br>

KayThis morning, I was out again hunting for beautiful scenes for ICM. It might be a simple realization, but I find that I enjoy ICM scenes the most when the elements (in this case, the trees) are mostly aligned in the same direction. When the camera is moved in that preferred direction during the exposure, enough structure remains to interpret the scene. This time, I left out the color—even though it’s particularly beautiful in ICM—because I wanted to emphasize the trees themselves and the contrast with the background. Color would have only distracted from that intention.<br>

KayYesterday, I just had to experiment with ICM again. This time, I approached the scenes with a bit more patience, but I still didn’t achieve results as great as during the spontaneous and quick session two days ago. The more you want something, the more blocked you seem to be, at least in my experience. I edited this image while listening to 'Pyramid Song,' my favorite Radiohead track. To me, the image reflects the mood that the song conveys. There may be no water visible, but trust me, there’s a stream running just below the image, really. :-)<br>

KayThis morning, I was unexpectedly caught in the rain while in the forest, unprepared. I had to be quick—I didn’t want to risk my camera for photos I could easily take again. And I have to say, I’m blown away by the results. I hope it’s not just my emotional connection to this morning, and that I’ll still like the photos next month. I’m impressed by how easy it is to compose impressionistic-looking images with ICM. I love it! :-)<br>

KayYesterday, for once, I didn’t go outside. But the urge to take photos was too strong. So, I prowled around the apartment with fresh eyes, as if I were a stranger looking for subjects. Besides the knife block on the wall and clothes in the closet, the only thing that caught my eye were my comics, which I once again subjected to some ICM.<br>

KayDuring today’s thunderstorm, I took the opportunity to photograph raindrops on the window glass. In the background, you can just barely make out the garden—if you use a lot of imagination. ;-) For these ICM shots, I took over 300 photos in about fifteen minutes. Only 4 interesting ones remained. What I find particularly exciting about ICM is discovering new textures, patterns, and color combinations. You usually can't imagine the results beforehand. Simply fascinating!<br>
